In May 2010 the Congregation
for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments approved the new
English translation of The Roman Missal. This new translation, prepared by ICEL
(International Commission on English in the Liturgy), aims at offering the
English-speaking Christian communities all over the world a liturgical text,
which will, by Advent 2011, replace the one that we use at the moment.
In view of this major change,
Paulines Publications Africa, in cooperation with various Bishops' Conferences
of Africa, ICEL and the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of
the Sacraments, is preparing several liturgical books.
For the first time ever, The
Roman Missal is prepared in Africa for the English-speaking Dioceses of Africa,
and it will include the Proper Masses for African Saints. The Bishops'
Conferences that have so far come together for the publication of these
liturgical books are: Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, Uganda, Southern African (which
includes Botswana, Swaziland and South Africa), Zimbabwe.

Welldone!
ReplyDeleteDear Sr Teresa,
ReplyDeleteThe beautiful Roman Missal prepared for countries of the English-speaking parts of Africa does great credit to Paulines Publications Africa. It is prepared in a very suitable altar format. The printing is clear and attractive. The texts are produced with total fidelity to the original. Propers are included for African countries, with details for some. And the price is attractive when compared to similar productions in other continents.
Please accept my hearty congratulations and gratitude and share the same with Father Rinaldo Ronzani and all others who in any way contributed to the production of this fine Missal. I wish all of you God’s abundant blessing.

I was surprised to see that the respose to the psalm for Year C. 26th Sunday of the year is not the same in the new missal as that in the large altar lectionary. Is there any reason for the difference?
ReplyDeleteSecondly, is there any place on line where one can get hold of the bible that is used in the latest South African Sunday Missal?
